Poverty

The sad fact is that at least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. Without assistance these people will continue to live in poverty and will be unable to send their children to school, further continuing the vicious cycle. But there is a solution…Microcredit. What is microcredit? Microcredit is the extension of very small loans (microloans) to those in poverty. In Bolivia, micro loan clients doubled their income in two years and were more likely to have access to health care and send their children to school. But existing microcredit institutions reach only 4% of the potential market and less than 2% of poor people have access to financial services from sources other than money lenders. Microcredit helps people to help themselves, letting them keep their dignity and provide a life for themselves and their families.
