In the words of the great Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. So what’s the big deal? Millions of children are in education all around the world, but the disappointing fact is that more than 130 million school-aged children are not attending school and 61% of children growing up in low income families have no books at home (First Book). But literacy deprivation is not exclusive to children. 1 in 3 women around the world cannot read or write. Staggeringly, 50% of Africans are also illiterate. Change MUST happen NOW!
